Finca wedding Mallorca – courtyard with natural stone and olive tree in golden evening light

Finca Wedding on Mallorca: The Most Beautiful Locations and How to Stage Them with Flowers

Picture this: you walk into a courtyard of pale natural stone. Above you, gnarled almond branches arch overhead and the late afternoon light breaks through the leaves in golden ribbons. Your first breath carries rosemary, wild thyme and the distant sound of the sea. Somewhere, the wind rustles through olive leaves. You know straight away: this is the place.
That's how a finca wedding on Mallorca begins – not with a checklist, but with a feeling. We've been working as florists on Mallorca's fincas for over 25 years, and every single one tells us its story the moment we step inside. The way the light falls, which stones were used, which fragrance hangs in the air – all of it determines which flowers can breathe here and which would feel out of place.
In this guide we'll show you which finca types exist, which floral concepts suit which architecture and what you should know about the logistics that no other guide mentions. Whether you're just starting to consider getting married on Mallorca or have already booked your finca – this article gives you the insider perspective of a florist who knows these locations from the inside.
Are you currently planning your entire wedding on Mallorca? Then this finca guide is the perfect deep dive.

Why a finca? The magic of this venue choice

Mallorca offers hotels with sea views, elegant beach clubs and historic townhouses in Palma. And still, most of the couples we accompany choose a finca. Not because it's the trend – but because a finca offers something no other wedding venue on Mallorca can match: the feeling that, for one moment, the entire world belongs to you alone.

The whole estate is yours

A finca wedding means exclusivity in its purest form. No streams of tourists in the background of your ceremony, no hotel hustle around the pool, no strangers in the foyer. You rent the entire estate – gardens, courtyard, pool, terraces, the old barn – and shape it around your vision.
That also means time freedom: no 11 p.m. curfew, no rigid schedule. At a finca, the celebration begins when you're ready and ends when the last star fades. Some couples celebrate over two or three days – welcome dinner on Friday, ceremony on Saturday, brunch in the olive grove on Sunday.

Sleeping where you marry

Imagine the morning after your wedding: you open the shutters, light falls onto sun-warmed terracotta tiles, the smell of coffee mingles with orange blossom. Your closest family is already sitting at the wooden table under the pergola. No taxi, no hotel checkout, no change of location.
Many fincas offer bedrooms right on the property – a wedding venue on Mallorca with overnight stay that makes that morning after possible in the first place. Everyone who matters most stays together.

The atmosphere no venue can copy

Natural stone that carries centuries within it. Heavy wooden beams whose grain tells stories. Terracotta floors with the warm patina of countless summers. And among them: thousand-year-old olive trees that form a natural cathedral with their silver-green crowns.
This world of materials fascinates us as florists. Because here, flowers don't have to compete with the venue – they're allowed to fit in. A wild bunch of lavender on a rustic wooden bench. White roses against rough sandstone. Bougainvillea winding around a wrought-iron balcony. The finca provides the stage – we curate the floral pictures that come to life on it.

The four finca types – which one suits you?

Not every finca is the same. In over 15 years on Mallorca we've come to see: each finca type has its own character and calls for a completely different floral concept. Here are the four main types – and the flowers that do them justice.

The rustic country house finca – where Mallorca's soul breathes

You'll know it by the rough natural stone, the uneven walls that speak of centuries. Dark-gold ceiling beams, faded terracotta, hand-made tiles with charming imperfections. The view drifts over olive groves to the horizon, an old fountain trickles in the courtyard. Everything looks as if it was never planned – and that's exactly the plan.
Capacity: Typically 30 to 80 guests, ideal for intimate to mid-sized weddings.
Indoor and outdoor: Outside, the courtyard as the floral centrepiece, the pergola terrace, the olive grove for the ceremony. Indoors, rustic barns offer an authentic rain backup with character.
Our floral concept: A wildflower feel in earth tones: deep-red amaranth, soft grain blossoms, fragrant lavender bundles, dried grass plumes. Plus macchia herbs from the island – thyme, rosemary, wild oregano – as decorative greenery. No glazed porcelain, but ceramic with patina, hand-thrown pots, rustic wooden discs.
"On rustic fincas, save yourself the pompous flower arches. Let nature itself decorate: a single blooming almond branch in a coarse terracotta vase says more than a hundred roses. Here, we always work with whatever the island is giving right now."
Seasonal flowers for the rustic finca:
  • Late winter (February–March): almond blossom, wild poppies, the first wild orchids
  • Spring (April–May): wild orchids, Mallorcan chamomile, orange blossom
  • Early summer (May–June): bougainvillea in vivid fuchsia, oleander, the first lavender
  • High summer (July–August): lavender in full bloom, wild capers, grain blossoms, sunflowers
  • Autumn (September–October): grapevine in autumn colour, ripe figs, eucalyptus, late field poppies

The modern design finca – clean lines, Mediterranean light

Whitewashed walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, minimalist terrazzo floors. The infinity pool mirrors the sky, beyond it stretches the panorama of the Tramuntana mountains or the deep blue Mediterranean. Here, a Mallorcan country house has been renovated with a contemporary architectural sensibility – no nostalgic frills, but a deliberate reduction to the essential. The light falls as if a photographer had planned it.
Capacity: 40 to 120 guests. Generous terraces and expansive garden grounds also accommodate large celebrations.
Indoor and outdoor: Spacious terraces, the pool deck for the apéro, geometrically designed gardens for the ceremony. Indoors: open living halls with a loft feel as a stylish rain backup. The light in the afternoon is often photographically ideal.
Our floral concept: Controlled opulence in a calm palette. Monochromatic white-green compositions, anthuriums, calla lilies, large-leaved eucalyptus. Vases in brushed bronze or clear glass – no visual noise. The arrangement follows the architecture.
"Modern fincas can carry scale. A single banquet table with an eight-metre floral runner in white and sage green – that's the moment that stays. The architecture can hold the volume. Don't let yourself be talked into something smaller."
Seasonal flowers for the modern finca:
  • Spring: white anemones, ranunculus, delicate eucalyptus greens
  • Early summer: clematis, jasmine leaves, white peonies
  • High summer: large-headed dahlias in cream, pampas grass, grain blossoms
  • Autumn: white seeded eucalyptus, silver-leaf, bleached branches

The historic estate finca – centuries in view

Here, the walls speak. Fincas that have been the heart of an estate since the 17th or 18th century: a private chapel on the grounds, Lourdes sculptures in the rose garden, vaulted arcades, hand-painted azulejo tiles in deep blue and ochre yellow. The floor is uneven, the wood dark, the history palpable. For couples who want to marry in a wedding venue that has a biography of its own.
Capacity: 60 to 150 guests. Generous courtyards and expansive park grounds offer room for larger gatherings.
Indoor and outdoor: Manicured gardens, shaded avenues, the chapel garden for the ceremony. Indoors: historic halls with vaults and high ceiling beams. Many historic fincas have their own chapel – ideal for symbolic ceremonies and church services alike.
The symbolic ceremony at historic fincas: The symbolic, free-form ceremony on Mallorca is by far the most popular ceremony format at fincas – and at historic estates it unfolds its full power. No sober registry office charm, no obligatory liturgy – instead your words, your story, your floral frame. Beneath arcades, in front of cypresses, beside a natural stone altar: historic fincas offer the storybook setting for any free-form Mallorca ceremony.
Our floral concept: Rich colours for rich history: bordeaux, velvet blue, antique rosé, bronze and gold. Garden roses, peonies, climbing clematis along the arches. No scattered blooms – instead grand welcome columns of flowering branches at the entrance, weighty table settings that match the architecture.
"Historic fincas sometimes have rose gardens of their own. We always ask the owners if we may cut there. A bridal bouquet from the finca's own garden – that's a story the wedding couple still tells their grandchildren."

The luxury finca – when every detail becomes an experience

Boutique-hotel quality in private dress. Infinity pool with a sweeping panoramic view, professional catering kitchen, fully equipped bridal suite, manicured botanical garden. Finca Serena is a prime example: the five-star boutique hotel with agri-hotel flair combines Mallorcan soul with contemporary luxury. Minimal organisational effort for the couple – maximum atmosphere.
Capacity: 80 to 200 guests. Professional event infrastructure is in place.
Indoor and outdoor: Expansive park grounds with several ceremony spots, illuminated paths, the pool deck for the apéro. Indoors: professional event halls, catering kitchen, climate-controlled rooms and often a spa area. The full hotel infrastructure means: all guests stay on-site.
Our floral concept: Here we have the freedom to recurate entire gardens: floral carpets along the driveway, bespoke ceremony arches, floral table installations as artworks. Native premium blooms combined with carefully curated imports such as gardenias, protea and magnolia-like lotus flowers.
"On luxury fincas I think in spaces, not in arrangements. The driveway begins the floral experience – guests should understand the moment they step out of the car that something extraordinary is happening today."

Son Marroig and the most beautiful fincas in focus

Mallorca has hundreds of fincas – but only a handful you'll never forget. Here are three estates we know and treasure from our work.

Son Marroig – the most moving view on the island

Son Marroig is perched on a rocky cliff above the Tramuntana mountains. Below you: the Foradada rock, beyond it the deep blue Mediterranean stretching to the horizon. Once the residence of Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Habsburg, this estate is a place of longing. The terrace with the iconic marble temple is the ceremony spot every couple recognises instantly.
A Son Marroig wedding is as exclusive as the location itself. Capacity is limited, ideal for intimate to mid-sized weddings. Booking early is mandatory here – 18 to 24 months of lead time is realistic.
"Son Marroig needs no decoration – it needs floral restraint. A rosemary-garland arch in front of the marble temple and white bouquets that frame the sea. The location itself is the artwork."

Finca Santa Lucia – romance with a chapel

Around 30 kilometres from Palma, Finca Santa Lucia lies nestled among ancient trees: a romantic country estate with its own chapel for couples seeking a religious or ceremonial wedding in an intimate setting. The chapel, surrounded by blooming rose bushes and pines, radiates a stillness that slows the breath. As florists we see it immediately: rose-vine arches at the chapel entrance, lilies in radiant white along the aisle.

Finca Alegria – the most radiant feeling

As the name promises: Finca Alegria radiates. Bright walls, open spaces, an estate that emanates lightness and joy from the very first moment. Floristically we work here in warm sun tones: mimosa in deep yellow, airy yellow-and-white combinations, chrysanthemums and ranunculus that catch the light. A finca for couples who celebrate the joy of life – and you should feel it in every arrangement.

More atmospheric gems

Mallorca holds treasures that can't be reduced to three names. Finca Biniagual – an entire village of natural stone, available exclusively. Finca Serena – the luxury boutique hotel mentioned above with its botanical garden. Each of these locations deserves a floral concept that understands its character rather than masking it.

Floristry at the finca – our insider guide

You won't find this part of the article in any other guide: the perspective of a florist who has been working on Mallorca's fincas for over 15 years. We know which flowers grow on the island, how the light shifts the colours and why setting up the evening before is sometimes wiser than on the wedding morning.

Seasonal flowers – what Mallorca actually gives

Many couples come with Pinterest boards full of peonies and hydrangeas – beautiful, but not necessarily what Mallorca offers in August. Local flowers are fresher, more alive and tell a story that fits the place.
Seasonal blooms for your finca wedding on Mallorca at a glance:
SeasonBlooming on MallorcaAtmosphere
Late winter (February–March)Almond blossom, first wildflowers, orange blossomWhite-pink-gold, delicate and fragile
Spring (April–May)Wild poppy, wild orchid, chamomile, orange blossomColourful, lively, meadow-fresh
Early summer (May–June)Bougainvillea, oleander (pink, white, red), lavender, jasmineSaturated pink, magenta tones, the first scent of lavender
High summer (July–August)Lavender in full bloom, capers, wild herbs, sunflowersLilac-white-silver, fragrant with herbs
Autumn (September–October)Grapevine in autumn colour, fig, eucalyptus, autumn roseAmber, bordeaux, terracotta, bronze
"Many couples come in September – and September to October is genuinely beautiful. Less heat, golden light, harvest atmosphere. We love working then with grapevines, red berries and the last summer roses."

Which flower style suits which finca?

This is the question we hear most often – and the answer is never the same. Here's a guide that helps you align your floral concept with your finca:
  • Rustic finca: Wildflower feel, meadow and herbal elements, earth tones, dried-flower accents. Less is more – nature provides the frame.
  • Modern design finca: Minimalist-opulent, monochromatic palette, clear structures, large statement arrangements. The arrangement follows the architecture.
  • Historic finca: Rich garden-rose romance, saturated colours, climbing clematis, vault-conscious column arrangements. The floristry honours the history.
  • Luxury finca: Full floral staging, large-scale installations, premium blooms, curated garden extensions. Anything is possible – and is allowed to be.

Light and finca – the underestimated factor

The light at your finca decides whether an arrangement unfolds its full magic or fades. We observe the light situation of every finca before deciding on a single bloom.
  • East terraces (morning light): Soft, diffuse light – ideal for white and pastel arrangements. This light flatters wedding dresses and lets delicate blooms glow without overpowering them.
  • Courtyards (midday light): Hard zenith light creates deep shadows and strong contrasts. Here, floristry needs volume and saturated colour – delicate pastels disappear in the brightness.
  • West terraces (evening light): The golden-hour light Mallorca is famous for. Almost everything looks magical here, but orange, amber and gold tones become simply iconic. The last rays of sun make every bloom glow.
  • Indoor spaces (candlelight): Warm tones – apricot, bordeaux, bronze – come alive in candlelight. Cooler white-and-green compositions, by contrast, take on an ivory, mysterious quality.
"If you show me the orientation of your finca, I already know which flower colours we'll choose. The light at Son Marroig at 7 p.m. alone justifies the choice of this location."

Floristry logistics at the finca – what couples should know

The most beautiful floral concepts mean little if the logistics don't hold. And this is exactly where the kind of knowledge sits that only someone who has lived it can share. Here are our most honest insider notes:
Access: Many fincas lie at the end of narrow, winding gravel tracks. A floristry team has to arrive early – the evening before or in the early morning hours, not two hours before the ceremony.
Heat and blooms: In high summer we work at night and in the early morning. Arranged flowers go into chilled hydration buckets and are only set up shortly before the ceremony. Sensitive blooms like peonies don't survive an August afternoon – we choose heat-tolerant alternatives that look just as exquisite.
Setup time: Large finca installations need four to eight hours of build time. Couples should factor this into their day plan.
Plan B in case of rain: Rain isn't unusual on Mallorca in October and November. As florists we always plan two setup options – indoor and outdoor – so your floral concept holds in any situation.
Tear-down: Tear-down the next morning is part of the professional service. Couples should enjoy the morning after – not collect vases.

The intimate finca wedding – elopements and small celebrations

More and more couples are deliberately choosing the opposite of the big celebration: getting married on Mallorca with only the people who truly count. Or even getting married on Mallorca just the two of you – an elopement on Mallorca, with the island as the only witness.

Just the two of you or a party of ten – why a finca doesn't need to be a major event

Many couples believe a finca only makes sense for large gatherings. That's a misconception. Small fincas with two to four bedrooms are made for elopements and intimate weddings: you rent the whole estate just for you – your closest family, your dearest friends, your story.
The intimate celebration on a whole estate doesn't feel like a big party that was poorly attended – it feels like the deliberate celebration of closeness and familiarity.
Our floral perspective: At elopements, floristry doesn't need mass – it needs precision. A carefully curated bridal bouquet, a table decoration for ten people, a flower arch as the ceremony frame. Less is literally more here – because every bloom carries full attention.

The symbolic ceremony at the finca – your ceremony, your rules

The free-form, symbolic ceremony is the most popular ceremony format at Mallorca's fincas. No registry office charm, no obligatory liturgy – instead a ritual that speaks only of you. You take care of the civil ceremony in advance in Germany; at the finca you celebrate your symbolic ceremony: your words, your guests, your floral frame.
Floristry for the symbolic ceremony:
  • A ceremony arch as a floral frame – tailored to the finca type
  • Flower-decorated rows of chairs or wooden benches in the olive grove
  • Entrance arrangements that mark the path to the ceremony
  • Floral table decoration for the apéro after the ceremony
"At the symbolic ceremony there's a moment – when the flower arch stands in the evening air, the candles are lit and no guests have arrived yet – that belongs only to us and our team. That's the moment we work for."

Planning and timing – what you should know

Here are the key planning notes from our Mallorca finca-wedding experience – so European distances and Mediterranean rhythms don't slow your vision down.

When should you book a finca?

The most coveted fincas on Mallorca are booked 18 to 24 months in advance – especially in the top season of June and July. Son Marroig, for example, can be booked far ahead during peak periods. If you're flexible, you'll find dreamlike fincas in the off-season with much more relaxed timelines.
Our recommendation by season:
  • Peak season (June–August): 18 to 24 months of lead time advisable
  • Shoulder season (April–May, September): 12 to 18 months of lead time
  • Off-season (October–November, March): 8 to 12 months is often enough
The same goes for the floristry: early coordination secures the best seasonal flower concepts and enough planning time for bespoke arrangements.

The best season for your finca wedding

Every season on Mallorca has its own floral character – and its own magic:
May and June: The greatest floral abundance of the year. Bougainvillea blooms, jasmine perfumes the air, temperatures are pleasant. For couples who want the full Mediterranean palette.
September and October: Golden autumn light, harvest atmosphere, fewer tourists. Our personal favourite. The colour palette shifts to warm amber, bordeaux and bronze tones – beautiful for sensual table designs.
July and August: High-summer heat – evening events are a must. In return, sunflower yellows and lavender purples glow with particular intensity on sun-drenched finca terraces.
April: The earliest season – wildflowers carpet the meadows. Ideal for couples who love natural meadow-flower floristry.

Cost factors of a finca wedding – what matters

Which factors shape the scope of your wedding planning at a finca? In our consultations we see the same decisive aspects again and again:
  • Type of venue and exclusivity: Boutique luxury finca or family-owned country estate – the range is enormous
  • Season and day of the week: Peak season and weekends versus off-season and weekdays
  • Guest count: Determines catering scope, table decorations and logistics
  • Sleeping capacity: Fincas with bedrooms for all guests are in higher demand
  • Exclusivity of the booking: The whole estate for a weekend versus just the event area
  • Floristry scope: From bridal bouquet and table decoration to full finca staging
For the floristry portion, keep in mind: on Mallorca, delivery, setup and tear-down are part of the professional service – that's part of the value. Many couples planning their finca wedding on Mallorca opt for an all-round package with reliable suppliers who know the island. For more on the overall planning, see our big Mallorca wedding guide.

Frequently asked questions about a finca wedding on Mallorca

What types of fincas are available on Mallorca for weddings?

A great question to start with! There are four main types: the rustic country house finca with natural stone and olive grove charm, the modern design finca with clean lines and a sea-view pool, the historic estate finca with chapel and centuries of history, and the luxury finca with hotel infrastructure and full event amenities. Each type tells a different story – and each one calls for a different floral style.

Is a wedding on Mallorca legally recognised in Germany?

A great question! A civil ceremony on Mallorca (Spain) is generally recognised in Germany – though it does involve some paperwork. Many couples therefore choose the simpler route: a civil ceremony in Germany, a symbolic free-form ceremony at the Mallorca finca. For the legal details, we recommend contacting your local registry office or a specialised wedding planner on the island.

How far in advance should you book a finca for a wedding?

The earlier, the better! For the most sought-after fincas during peak season (June to August): 18 to 24 months of lead time isn't an exaggeration – it's realistic. If you're flexible with date and season, you can still find exceptional options at 12 months out – especially in the golden shoulder season of September and October.

Are finca weddings also suitable for small celebrations?

Absolutely! Small fincas with two to four bedrooms are tailor-made for elopements and intimate weddings of 10 to 30 people. You rent the entire estate exclusively – and your celebration doesn't feel like a big party that was poorly attended, but like the deliberate celebration of closeness and intimacy.

Which flowers suit a finca wedding on Mallorca best?

Our team's favourite question! It depends on the finca type and the season. As a rule of thumb: natural, Mediterranean, seasonal. On rustic fincas: lavender, wildflowers, herbal bouquets. On modern fincas: structured white-and-green compositions. On historic fincas: lush garden roses, climbing clematis. On luxury fincas: large installations with premium blooms. And always: what blooms on Mallorca itself is what looks most alive.

Your finca, your flowers, your moment

A finca wedding on Mallorca is a decision for an atmosphere that no ballroom and no beach club can imitate – and for floral images that come to life only here, between olive groves and natural stone, bougainvillea and evening light.
You now know which finca type captivates you – but which floral images will come to life there for you? We accompany you from the first idea to the last petal. Tell us about your finca and your vision.
